In-House Metal Fabrication

A good HVAC system cannot run better than the ductwork and fittings connected to it. The problem is that many homes do not fit standard parts. An attic has a tight turn. A new air handler sits in an awkward closet. An old trunk line has odd dimensions. A barndominium needs a layout nobody sells in a box.
That is where in-house metal fabrication earns its keep.
Kilgore Heating and Air makes custom ductwork, transitions, plenums, takeoffs, and other sheet-metal pieces to fit the job in front of us. We are not trying to force a close-enough part into a space it was never made for.
Built for your house, not the shelf
A plenum is the metal connection between your equipment and the main duct system. A transition changes one duct size or shape into another. Those pieces look simple, but they affect airflow, static pressure, service access, and how clean the finished installation is.
Off-the-shelf pieces have their place. But when the fit is wrong, the usual shortcuts are extra flex duct, crushed connections, sharp turns, gaps sealed with too much tape, or a system that is hard to service later. You might not see the problem after the crew leaves. You will feel it when a room never gets enough air or the new equipment runs under unnecessary strain.
We measure, plan, and build the parts the system actually needs. That makes a difference on new construction, replacement jobs, crawlspace work, attic retrofits, commercial spaces, metal homes, and custom foam-insulated builds.
Less waiting, better control
Fabricating in house gives us control over the work. If a custom part is needed, we do not have to wait around for a distant shop to fit us into its schedule. We can make the piece, check the fit, and keep the job moving.
It also means we are not locked into the easiest design for somebody else. We can build a better route around framing, preserve service clearance, match an existing system where that makes sense, and make transitions that support proper airflow.
This is not about making every job complicated. It is about not pretending every house is the same. Sometimes a standard fitting is exactly right. When it is not, we have another option besides making do.
What we fabricate
- Supply and return plenums
- Custom transitions and reducers
- Main trunk duct sections
- Equipment connections
- Return-air boxes and filter racks
- Custom fittings for tight or unusual spaces
- Ductwork pieces for light-commercial work
If you are replacing equipment, building a home, or trying to solve an airflow problem, ask us to look at the duct side too. Call Kilgore Heating and Air at (423) 637-1846. A custom piece is often the difference between a system that merely runs and one that works as it should.
